KNEU 1250A vehicle stolen and listed on the National Crime Information Center was recovered in Duchesne County thanks to the observation and action of a Duchesne County Sheriff’s Deputy. According to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy B. Shaw observed a black Ford Mustang matching the description of an Earlier Attempt to Locate vehicle on March 8th at approximately 8:00am.
Parties involved in a lawsuit surrounding the Stonegate Subdivision in Roosevelt are working together towards a long-term solution. TriCounty Health Department, Duchesne County, Roosevelt City, and the residents from Stonegate who filed the suit are collaborating as a gravity-fed sewer system is in the works for the subdivision.
It’s another month of good news from the Department of Workforce Services as the latest report shows another shift downward in Basin unemployment rates. Daggett County shifted from 3.8 to 3.5 percent unemployment. Duchesne County took a plunge down from 7 percent to 6.5 percent unemployment and Uintah County also saw a half a percent drop from 7.3 to 6.8 percent unemployment.

Uintah County Sheriff’s Office takes the safety of the community as a whole seriously and has recently increased their enforcement patrols. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, deputies have stepped up on impairment enforcement over the last few weeks.
President Trump’s Energy Independence Policy is offering hope to local officials and industry leaders. The White House Office of the Press Secretary released details of the policy on Tuesday stating that the Obama Administration burdened Americans with costly regulations that harmed American jobs and energy production. The new policy in contrast provides much needed reform in rolling back such regulations.

A Roosevelt structure fire is being investigated as arson. According to Roosevelt City Police Chief Rick Harrison, a structure fire was reported Sunday night at about 9:00pm. Neighbors reported the fire located at 400 North 400 East.
Monday’s Uintah County Commission meeting included a report on the financial status of the Uintah Transportation Special Service District. Executive Director Adam Massey presented and stated that the original budget for 2017 was set at $4.8 million dollars but after a million dollars in cuts the final budget sits at $3.8 million dollars.
Collaboration is the key as Uintah County, canal companies, and other parties move forward to form solutions for the Ashley Valley Flood Control plan. An engineering study presented last fall by Sunrise Engineering has provided options and framework for the groups with the study concluding that the biggest current threat to the areas outside Vernal and Naples is from water coming in from outside the valley including Ashley Creek, Yellow Hills and Asphalt Ridge.
New data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that Utah ranks number 1 in the nation for private job growth at 3.5 percent. Utah also ranks high at number 2 for total job growth at 3.3 percent.
