Parties Collaborate to Form Joint Solutions on Ashley Valley Flood Control Plan

Collaboration is the key as Uintah County, canal companies, and other parties move forward to form solutions for the Ashley Valley Flood Control plan. An engineering study presented last fall by Sunrise Engineering has provided options and framework for the groups with the study concluding that the biggest current threat to the areas outside Vernal and Naples is from water coming in from outside the valley including Ashley Creek, Yellow Hills and Asphalt Ridge.

Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment has grown by 3.3 percent over the last 12 months. According to the Division of Workforce Services, 47,500 jobs were added to the economy since February 2016.

Cuch Named USU-Uintah Basin Associate Director

USU-Uintah Basin has named a new Associate Director that will serve both the Roosevelt and Vernal campuses. New Associate Director Cameron Cuch worked as the education director and chief administrative officer at Uintah River Charter High School and has more than 10 years executive leadership experience in the energy sector.

Monument Road to Remain Closed

The Island Park and Rainbow Park roads within Dinosaur National Monument will remain closed for an undetermined amount of time. Engineers from the Federal Highway Administration assessed the extent of the damage on the roads caused by flooding this winter and found that no immediate fix could allow for the reopening of the road.

Fundraiser 3-D Archery Shoot to Benefit Little Cowboy

Split Mountain Archers are holding a fundraiser 3-D archery shoot to benefit 2-year-old Jamison Black who was seriously injured on November 3rd after being pinned beneath the bucket of a skid-steer.
