On the heels of President Trump’s proclamation, Governor Herbert ordered the lowering of flags in Utah for the interment of former U.S. Senator John Glenn, calling Glenn an American hero in every sense.
James Hudson Main, Jr. made his first appearance in 8th District Court this week on charges tied to a string of crimes committed last October. Main Jr. faces a long list of charges in Utah and Colorado after a two day crime spree that included kidnapping, assault, and the alleged aggravated murder of his own father.
Roosevelt City is doing their part to follow through on helping residents of the Stonegate Subdivision. The subdivision was annexed last year into Roosevelt City as multiple parties have worked together to try and find a solution to the area’s failing septic systems.

Spring runoff continues to flow at an above average pace. According to the Bureau of Reclamation, unregulated inflow into Flaming Gorge Reservoir during the month of February was at 236 percent of average with the current elevation of the reservoir at about 82 percent of live capacity.
Judge Clark McClellan has granted the trial of the three men charged with raping a 9-year-old Uintah County girl to be moved outside the Uintah Basin. In the ruling, Judge McClellan cited the public outcry and widespread knowledge of the case by locals.
The Basin man accused of kidnapping a couple and killing his father in Duchesne County last year was returned to Utah from Colorado last week to face a capital murder charge in 8th District Court. A manhunt that began in Duchesne County and ended in Grand Junction last October found Main Jr. in custody in Grand Junction and law enforcement investigating crimes that took place over 2 days and 2 states.
The Uintah County Commission approved the state tax commission’s order to refund Centrally Assessed Taxes to Anadarko during Monday’s Commission meeting. Last year, Uintah County collected Centrally Assessed Taxes from Anadarko based on the state assessed amount.
