Travel delays are about to begin on the Highway 40 widening project in Duchesne County. UDOT crews are working to widen the road to five lanes from 6250 South in Myton to Pole Line Road in Roosevelt.

Duchesne Man Killed in Fatal Highway 40 Crash
A tragic car crash on Highway 40 near Park City took the life of a Duchesne man just after midnight on Friday night. According to Utah Highway Patrol, a 2014 Kenworth semi truck hauling double tankers was traveling west on SR-40 near mile post 6 in the right lane.

Basin Air Quality Report to Utah Legislature
The Basin’s own air quality expert gave his annual report on Uintah Basin air quality at the state legislature this month. Dr. Seth Lyman of the USU Bingham Research Center provided detail and context to the fact that ozone concentrations have exceeded the EPA standard of 70-parts-per-billion on some days during winters in the Uintah Basin.

The Ute Tribe is part of a joint effort of tribes supporting the Bears Ears National Monument. After U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke visited Utah following President Trump’s executive order to review national monuments, a 15-day comment period was opened for the Bear Ears National Monument.

Livestock Harassment No Laughing Matter
Members of the Uintah Basin Cattlemen Association aren’t the only ones that take livestock harassment seriously. An instance of livestock harassment on Taylor Mountain last August resulted in charges and a conviction. According to Richie Anderson with the cattlemen association, an individual was on an ATV and struck several livestock.
