A tragic car crash on Highway 40 near Park City took the life of a Duchesne man just after midnight on Friday night. According to Utah Highway Patrol, a 2014 Kenworth semi truck hauling double tankers was traveling west on SR-40 near mile post 6 in the right lane. The semi had just crested the top of a hill and did not appear to be traveling very fast. The driver of the semi was distracted by his cellphone and rear ended a slower moving 1998 Saturn car. The car spun into the left travel lane where it came to a stop. The driver of the car, a 40-year old female from West Jordan, was taken by medical helicopter to the U of U medical center in critical condition while the male passenger was transported to Park City medical center where he was pronounced dead. The man was identified as 41-year-old Landon B. Peatross of Duchesne. All the occupants in both vehicles were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
