Those who attend the final concert for the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra on Saturday are in for a special treat. Not only have these young musicians put together a fantastic lineup of classical suites but a special arrangement of Over the Rainbow will be debuted by these talented local youth. Utah composer Andres Paredes, whose talent and name is among the up and coming, is a self-taught musician born in Peru and raised from the age of 11 in Salt Lake City. Last May, Paredes musical production of “The Prodigal Son” was presented at the Conference Center to great acclaim. UBYCO Director Brad Vanfleet approached Paredes about writing a piece for the youth orchestra and the special arrangement of Over the Rainbow came together. “This has been an exciting and successful season,” shares Vanfleet, who invites all to come enjoy the final concert this season of the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra on Saturday, May 27th, at 7:00pm at the Vernal Middle School. Students are free.
