KNEU 1250It was a magical weekend in the Vernal area over the weekend with the 4th annual Dinah “SOAR” Days Hot Air Balloon Festival. 33 hot air balloon pilots from 8 states participated, adding vibrancy to the skies each morning and glow to downtown at night.
A popular Smithsonian exhibit will soon be on display in Green River, Wyoming. The Smithsonian press release shares that the ‘Crossroads: Change in Rural America’ exhibit offers small towns a chance to look at their own paths to highlight the changes that affected their fortunes over the past century.
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is proposing some changes to big game hunting, including a change to a once-in-a-lifetime hunt in the Book Cliffs. Included among the proposals is to allow an individual to apply for and hunt the following species in the same year: doe and buck pronghorn, cow and elk moose, and ewe and ram bighorn sheep.

The Surface Transportation Board’s Final EIS for the project was released on August 6th and entered a 30 day no action period.
Plans continue to move forward for a major expansion and remodel project at Red Fleet State Park funded by $7.5 million dollars from the Utah Legislature. The COVID-19 Transmission Index update reports Duchesne County and Uintah County at the High Transmission Index Level and Daggett County at the Low Level. The Division of Wildlife Resources is making proposals in fulfillment of 2021 legislation concerning the use of trail cameras in hunting. HB 295 instructed the Utah Wildlife Board to make rules to govern the use of trail cameras and as a result the DWR surveyed 6000 hunters to get their feedback.
Utah Senator Mitt Romney took time for a radio interview on Newstalk 104.5 FM and AM 920 KVEL this week as he’s been traveling around the state to discuss the Senate passed Infrastructure Bill and Jobs Act. Senator Romney said he supports the Infrastructure Bill because it is a bipartisan bill and is the best option available.
