Dinosaur National Monument has provided an update on road conditions throughout the park. Access to the Quarry Exhibit Hall is open and cleared. The paved section of Cub Creek Road on the Utah side is also plowed. Harpers Corner Road is opened to the junction with Echo Park Road but is snow covered.

Tyler Grimshaw of Vernal was just 10 years old last June when he made headlines all over the country after reeling in a 41-pound lake trout while fishing Flaming Gorge with his dad. Well now, 6 months later and at 11 years old, Tyler is the envy of anglers near and far after catching and releasing an even bigger lake trout!
Home a Total Loss in Duchesne County Christmas Day Fire
It was a devastating end to a Christmas Day for a Duchesne County family. The Duchesne Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire after midnight at 24991 West Rock Creek Road. “On arrival firefighters found the Residence, Garage and an RV heavily involved with fire,” shares the Duchesne Volunteer Fire Department.
Unemployment Numbers Updated by County
Unemployment numbers ticked up slightly from the month before according to data from the Utah Department of Workforce Services. Daggett County ticked up from 5 to 5.1 percent unemployment. Duchesne County shifted from 9.6 to 9.9 percent unemployment and Uintah County moved from 11 to 11.3 percent.
Volunteer Fire Fighters Recognized for Outstanding Service
Vernal City Council approved a resolution on Wednesday, December 16th to recognize the outstanding service provided by a special group. “Twelve of our City/County fire fighters have shown exemplary service to our community for many years,” explains City Manager Quinn Bennion.
Dinosaur National Monument Shares Film For National Short Film Day
It seems like every day has some celebration attached to it like, Gingerbread Day or Speak Like A Pirate Day. Dinosaur National Monument stepped up to help celebrate one such holiday by posting on their Facebook a short film. The film is entitled Monsters of the Past, one of the earliest known movies to show the collecting of dinosaur fossils.

Missing Duchesne County Man Rescued From Crash in Ravine
A missing Duchesne County man spent Christmas in a cold and scary situation but thankfully has lived to tell about it. On December 25th at 10:00 am, 55-year-old Michael Charles Lee of Duchesne County was reported missing after having been last seen Wednesday evening in Hanna.
Tri-County Area COVID-19 Transmission Level Update
The TriCounty Health District has stayed at the same COVID-19 Transmission Index Levels for another week. Uintah County and Duchesne County remain at the High Transmission Level and Daggett County is in the Low Transmission Level.
Uintah National Honor Society Continues Service to Local Elementary Students
The members of Uintah High School’s chapter of National Honor Society have continued their quest to help local kids. Last month, the group led a massive effort to collect food items to help when the school food programs are unavailable.
