Uintah National Honor Society Continues Service to Local Elementary Students

The members of Uintah High School’s chapter of National Honor Society have continued their quest to help local kids. Last month, the group led a massive effort to collect food items to help when the school food programs are unavailable. Their ‘Backpack Buddies Food Drive’ collected 34,218 individual food items that were divided between Ashley, Davis, Discovery, and Naples Elementary Schools. The program works by providing kid-friendly food to supplement meals over the weekend when the school food programs are unavailable. Well when the Honor Society members learned there was another way they could help with this program they jumped at the opportunity. “We found out blankets could be a huge help to our schools and the Backpack Buddies program,” shares advisor Mrs. Maxwell. The students, along with Mrs. Maxwell and Mrs. Labrum, made the blankets throughout the month of December. 25 hand-tied fleece blankets were completed for the Backpack Buddies programs for the local elementary schools. Well done to all involved!
