It seems like every day has some celebration attached to it like, Gingerbread Day or Speak Like A Pirate Day. Dinosaur National Monument stepped up to help celebrate one such holiday by posting on their Facebook a short film. The film is entitled Monsters of the Past, one of the earliest known movies to show the collecting of dinosaur fossils. It features footage taken in 1922 during the last week of excavations at Dinosaur National Monument. It was the last field season of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and was filmed by paleontologist Arthur Coggeshall. The film was publicly presented during a 1924 lecture by Charles Gilmore about his work at Dinosaur.
