According to a press release issued Tuesday, Tabitha Cutright will be an instructor in the Department of Nursing and Cameron Cuch will be a lecturer in the Marketing, Strategy, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship Department at the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business.

Golden Age Center 50 Year Celebration TODAY

The Golden Age Center is celebrating 50 years of serving the Vernal area with festivities taking place today. The Golden Age Center was recently named the Government Business of the Year by the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce and it was discovered that the Center has been serving the Basin for half a century, a milestone worth celebrating.

It’s been a whirlwind of singing, dancing, and acting the last three weeks for two amazing casts made up of local youth ages 8 to 16 for Vernal Theatre: LIVE’s latest production, opening tomorrow night! High School Musical, Jr. opens on Wednesday night for one cast and Thursday night for the other and each performing on Friday and Saturday.

UDOT Update on West Roosevelt to Gusher Highway 40 Construction

Construction work continues on Highway 40 from West Roosevelt to Gusher. “Work this week will include continued removal and replacement of the pedestrian ramps alongside US-40,” shares UDOT. “Additionally, crews will begin to lower utilities in preparation for upcoming asphalt work. Starting Monday, July 29th, the inside lanes of US 40 will be closed in order to prepare for work on the utilities.

Don’t Forget to Take Hunter Education Class

For all those who are wanting to hunt this fall be sure to get registered for your Utah Hunter Education Program. Any person born after December 31, 1965 is obligated to complete the state-offered hunter education class. There are two ways to take the course. The first is to attend the instructor-led course that is held in a classroom.

DWR Hummingbird Banding Event a Success

Volunteers helped the Division of Wildlife Resources gather valuable data about the local hummingbird population on Saturday. According to DWR conservation outreach manager Tonya Kieffer-Selby, the event had about 81 attendees. “Today’s hummingbird banding by Terry Tolbert was a huge success!” shares Kieffer-Selby.

Garage Fire Started By Fireworks

It is a lot of fun to put on firework displays for family and friends. It also comes with a responsibility to be safe above and beyond what is expected. Recent events are a reminder for the public to take the extra precautions. Luckily, the first incident did not cause any damage as fire crews and officers received a call from dispatch for a garbage can that was on fire in front of True Value. The other incident started about 12:30am on Saturday, July 26th.

Bodies of Brothers Recovered from Strawberry Reservoir

The bodies of two fisherman at the center of a 10 day search were recovered on Sunday from Strawberry Reservoir. Brothers 70-year-old Jim Gardiner and 61-year-old Mark Gardiner were discovered missing on July 18th after 9-1-1 was called with a report of an unoccupied boat drifting near the shore of the reservoir with the boat motor still running.
