Volunteers helped the Division of Wildlife Resources gather valuable data about the local hummingbird population on Saturday. According to DWR conservation outreach manager Tonya Kieffer-Selby, the event had about 81 attendees. “Today’s hummingbird banding by Terry Tolbert was a huge success!” shares Kieffer-Selby. “We captured four black-chinned hummingbirds and gathered data about their species in the Uintah Basin.” Many of the helpful volunteers were local kids gathering stamps for the Passport to Summer program. What an amazing experience provided by the DWR, allowing youth such a rare up close and personal experience with a hummingbird!
