Uintah County Sheriff’s Office Seeking Information on Cow Shooting

The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help on a recent case. Sometime around Thursday, July 18th an individual or individuals shot and killed a heifer cow on Diamond Mountain in the area of Mail Draw. A $2,000 dollar reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. The Sheriff’s Office invites anyone who has information, or was in the area, that might have happened to see a vehicle or heard the gunshot to contact them at 435-789-2511.

Steve Springer recorded 1600 hits over a 14 season career as a professional baseball player and is currently a professional scout for the Toronto Blue Jays.

TriCounty Health Department Having Immunization Clinic

As the children shed a tear or two at the close of summer, parents are gearing up for the new life schedule. TriCounty Health Department will be holding their Back to School Immunization Clinic throughout the Uintah Basin. For those kids entering kindergarten or seventh grade there are certain immunizations they will need and the health department nurses will be available to help with those.

It’s Official! Hotel Vernal Haunt Set to Scare Up Funds For Local Charities

After months of behind the scenes work, it’s official. An agreement is in place and the Hotel Vernal Haunt will scare up funds for local charities for a second year this coming October. “Last year’s Haunt was an overwhelming success,” shares Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion. “The first year event provided spooks to 7,000 visitors and scared up $48,000 to fund local charities.

Proposed Uinta Basin Railway Public Comment Extension

The Surface Transportation Board announced on Friday, August 2nd, that the comment period for the Draft Scope Study of the proposed Uinta Basin Railway has been extended. The Office of Environmental Analysis received multiple requests for an extension of the comment period and responded by extending the comment period until September 3rd with the note that no further extensions of time will be granted.

The Lifeguards of the Roosevelt Aquatic Center Train with EMT

Many of the lifeguards that serve at the Roosevelt Aquatic Center are teenagers enjoying their first job. Even though that might be the case, the job of lifeguard is a serious matter. To help illustrate the point, the Roosevelt Aquatic Center had emergency response personnel meet with the lifeguards on Friday, July 26th to work together and practice in-water rescues that could end with ambulance calls.

Be sure to ignite that wonder by coming out to the Moffat County Balloon Festival. For August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, if the weather permits, there will be hot air balloons every morning at 6:30am. Plan to spend Saturday exploring Craig, Colorado.
