A fire that started
Sunday afternoon
is contained in Moffat County, 9 miles from the Utah/Colorado border. According to BLM Public Information Officer David Boyd, the Mile Marker 9 Fire is all on private land on the south side of Highway 40 burning in grass and brush. It was reported at 4pm on July 28th and crews have contained it to 90 acres. Responding agencies have included the Colorado Little Snake BLM, Vernal BLM, Dinosaur National Monument, and Artesia Volunteer Fire District. “They got around it
Sunday night
and stopped its expansion,” shares Boyd. “They were working it all night and early in the morning a little fire jumped the containment line so Craig Hot Shots went out. We don’t expect it to get any larger.” The fire is right next to Highway 40 but it is not affecting traffic. All travelers are asked to be alert of the fire fighting traffic in the area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
