Vernal Step-Mom Arrested For Aggravated Murder and Child Abuse of 3-Year-Old
An arrest has been made in the suspicious death of a 3-year-old Vernal girl loved and missed by many. According to the Vernal Police Department, 24-year-old Vernal resident Mckenley Yadon (also known as Mckenley Stout) was arrested and booked into the Uintah County Jail on Thursday, May 23rd, for First Degree Felony Aggravated Murder and Second Degree Felony Child Abuse.
Environmental Groups File Lawsuit Over Approval of Enefit Mine Near Vernal
Environmental groups are making good on their promise to challenge a BLM decision to approve an Enefit oil shale project 40 miles south of Vernal. The lawsuit, aimed at the Trump Administration, was filed on May 16th by Earthjustice, representing multiple environmental groups. Earthjustice attorney Alex Hardee says the federal agencies have “worn blinders in approving this project” and that they have “left the public in the dark” when it come to the effects of oil shale development to the environment.

Do you have interest in Utah’s wildlife? The Utah’s Division of Wildlife Resources is looking to fill three more positions to the Wildlife Regional Advisory Council. Five RACs were created in the 1990s by Utah State Legislature so that there could be more public input from citizens.
Starvation Makes List of Top Four Fishing Spots in State
If you are an angler looking to catch a lot of fish quickly then you are in luck. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has released their list of the top four spots in the state of Utah to catch a lot of fish quickly and a Uintah Basin reservoir was included. Starvation Reservoir made the list along with Lost Creek, Jordanelle, and Echo Reservoir.
Ashley Forest Road Updates
Since Ashley Forest offers some great camping, picturesque views and outdoor fun it tends to be a choice destination. If you are headed up there be aware that the road from Highway 191 to Iron Springs as well as Colton Guard Station, Kaler Hollow and the Taylor Mountain Road are open. Forest Service Road 221 to Spirit Lake is now open. If heading up to Spirit Lake know that about 2 1/2 miles up the road you will run into substantial snow drifts.

This unique opportunity is a 10-week academy that allows residents a chance to better understand the jobs that officers perform and the challenge they face. Some of the things that the applicants learn about is SWAT operations and equipment, crime scene investigations, DUI enforcement and firearms safety to name a few.
