Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is now taking applications to be part of the fall 2019 session of Citizen’s Academy. This unique opportunity is a 10-week academy that allows residents a chance to better understand the jobs that officers perform and the challenge they face. Some of the things that the applicants learn about is SWAT operations and equipment, crime scene investigations, DUI enforcement and firearms safety to name a few. Once individuals have successfully completed the academy they may be eligible to help. They can help the sheriff’s office in a volunteer civilian capacity for upcoming community events. For individuals at least 18 years old that are interested, complete the application and drop it off at the sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office will run a background check and has the right to deny entry to the academy. Applications can be mailed, fax or emailed as well.
