It’s taken a little longer to spot them due to heavy snowpack but views of Utah’s Mountain Yetis are now available at Mountain Home. The furry, white mountain goats live on the steep terrain on the south slope of the Uinta Mountains and are ready to be admired.

UHS Mountain Biking Team Looking for Recruits
The Uintah High School mountain biking team is already looking to next fall and are welcoming new recruits to start training with them. Coach Jesse Atwood is inviting anyone interested to attend a meeting about the upcoming season to learn more about the amazing opportunity mountain biking is for all kids.
Uintah County Commission Board Appointments
With the Uintah County Commission fully seated, the list of board appointments have been finalized. On a county level, Chairman Bill Stringer is covering animal control, grounds and facilities, museums and libraries, public safety, planning and community development, travel and tourism, and the trails coalition.
Kinkaid Calls Out Salt River Project
Former Moffat County Commissioner John Kinkaid is calling out one of the nation’s largest public power utilities. According to Kinkaid, Salt River Project has argued that Craig Station is worth less because it burns coal instead of natural gas and supposedly is aimed as well at shutting down Unit One.
Caution Urged on Green River Below Flaming Gorge Dam
Heavy spring runoff means releases from Flaming Gorge Dam into the Green River are already roaring and the public is urged to use caution on and around the Green River.
Basin Unemployment Continues Downward Trend
It’s another month of good news from the Department of Workforce Services as the latest report shows another shift downward in Basin unemployment rates. Daggett County shifted from 3.8 to 3.5 percent unemployment. Duchesne County took a plunge down from 7 percent to 6.5 percent unemployment and Uintah County also saw a half a percent drop from 7.3 to 6.8 percent unemployment.
Additional Patrols for DUI and Seatbelt Enforcement
Uintah County Sheriff’s Office takes the safety of the community as a whole seriously and has recently increased their enforcement patrols. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, deputies have stepped up on impairment enforcement over the last few weeks.

An opportunity for women with an entrepreneuring spirit is coming to the Uintah Basin. The Women’s Business Center launched with great success through the Salt Lake County Chamber of Commerce and in the years since has provided the resources and support to help thousands of Utah women experience success in starting their own businesses.
Partial Dismissal of Stonegate Lawsuit; Parties Working Together
Parties involved in a lawsuit surrounding the Stonegate Subdivision in Roosevelt are working together towards a long-term solution. TriCounty Health Department, Duchesne County, Roosevelt City, and the residents from Stonegate who filed the suit are collaborating as a gravity-fed sewer system is in the works for the subdivision.
Missing Fisherman’s Body Recovered from Flaming Gorge
The body of a fisherman missing since January was recovered on Tuesday at Flaming Gorge.
