Kinkaid Calls Out Salt River Project

Former Moffat County Commissioner John Kinkaid is calling out one of the nation’s largest public power utilities. According to Kinkaid, Salt River Project has argued that Craig Station is worth less because it burns coal instead of natural gas and supposedly is aimed as well at shutting down Unit One. “That’s a very dangerous precedent to set not only in Colorado but nationally as well,” shares Kinkaid. “I hope that something can be done to thwart their shoddy business tactic.”  Kinkaid also explains that the Moffat County School District will take the biggest hit from the effort at the cost of about $408,000 dollars and the impact could potentially be felt in 2017. “The school district was already reeling financially before this,” says Kinkaid. “The claim that a power plant is worth less because it is coal-fired must be countered or things will get worse for Coloradoans and most Americans.”
