The Roosevelt City Council took time on Tuesday to recognize multiple individuals for going the extra mile in service to others. Fred Butterfield was recognized for his acts of kindness in taking care of his neighbors. LaRee Hurley was recognized for her efforts to make sure the 2020 Main Street Halloween Parade still happened in Roosevelt City.
TriCounty Health Department is seeking more volunteers in the COVID-19 vaccination effort. According to TriCounty Health Officer Kirk Benge, the weekly shipments of doses are expected to double from 700 to 1500 and they are moving to larger locations to accommodate more people.
The Utah Nurse Practitioner Association is behind a bill that they say will remove barriers to practice and increase patient access in Utah and the Vernal Chamber Legislative Committee is in support of the bill. HB 287, Nurse Practice Act Amendments, would remove a barrier that restricts the practice of Nurse Practitioners and prevents some from owning their own practice.
With the pieces falling into place, it appears that electric scooters, similar to those seen in downtown Salt Lake City, will soon be available to rent in Vernal. Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion presented on the prospect at the City County meeting on Monday.
The D.A.R.E. program continues to educate and empower local youth and the most recent class to graduate from the program is the awesome kids at Con Amore school in Duchesne County. Dangerous materials and police body armor were found in a Uintah County home on Tuesday after officers were called to the residence on a report of an assault. 37-year-old Michael Dallas Rowley was taken into custody on suspicion of aggravated assault and then booked into Uintah County Jail on the offenses of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a Restricted Person, Endangerment of a Child, Possession of Controlled Substances and Paraphernalia, and Theft.
New TriCounty Health Director Kirk Benge caught up with Amy in the Eagle Country 105.5 FM studio this week to offer an update on COVID-19 and local vaccination efforts. Active cases have been going down and staying low for a few weeks, reports Benge, with total active cases at 249 and confirmed cases to date at 3,452.
