Uintah Basin Veterans: Help Available Wednesday(2/24) To Apply For VA Benefits

If you are a local Veteran or you know a local Veteran who is not receiving VA benefits please plan to visit the American Legion building on North Vernal Avenue today at 1:00 pm. There are three individuals coming to help Veterans in the Uintah Basin get signed up and get the most from the benefits they are entitled to: a representative from Senator Lee’s office, an expert from the VA office, and an American Legion member full of knowledge and ready to help. American Legion Post Commander Reed Rasmussen says there are many local Veterans not getting their benefits because they simply do not know how to get them. Rasmussen says the VA benefits have been fantastic for his medical needs, especially with the Veterans Choice system set up under President Trump where you can use your medical provider locally rather than drive all the way to Salt Lake for medical needs. Veterans can bring their discharge papers and an ID to get signed up while at today’s event or just come to get questions answered. “These Veterans deserve to have their benefits,” emphasizes Rasmussen. “I guarantee many of them have been in a foxhole sacrificing for our country. They deserve their benefits and we can help to get them set up.”  Today’s event is at 1:00 pm at 341 North Vernal Avenue. For more information, call 435-790-3492.
