The Roosevelt City Council took time on Tuesday to recognize multiple individuals for going the extra mile in service to others. Fred Butterfield was recognized for his acts of kindness in taking care of his neighbors. LaRee Hurley was recognized for her efforts to make sure the 2020 Main Street Halloween Parade still happened in Roosevelt City. Clate and Tosha Miller were recognized for helping the community during the COVID-19 pandemic by donating land for a community garden space. Russ Nielsen was also recognized by the Council. Nielsen is the East Elementary School Principal who was up early every weekday when schools went to remote learning last spring to help serve and breakfast and lunch at the Jr. High as well as other acts of service. The final award was presented to Leo Thorsen who manages the Thompson House of Hope and is a ray of light to many. Well done to all for making the community a better place.
