KNEU 1250This month Ashley Regional Medical Center celebrates eight decades of serving patients in the Uintah Basin and the surrounding areas, shares a press release issued Monday. Ashley Regional Medical Center has been a part of the Uintah Basin since 1941.
Vernal City is promoting the State’s Rent Relief program and wants locals to utilize this help that is available. The State has millions to assist renters to catch up on rent payments, shares Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion. The Emergency Rental Assistance program can help renters who are unable to pay their rent and utilities due to circumstances related to COVID-19.
Winds certainly didn’t help with containment efforts of two fires in the Myton area reported on Monday. Utah Fire Info reported shortly after 4pm that the East Myton Fire was 200 acres in size and 10 percent contained and at that time was threatening structures including 3 Tribal and 1 private residence that were all evacuated.
Utah Highway Patrol has released the identities of the two people killed in a single vehicle crash that took place Saturday in Duchesne County. Utah Highway Patrol released that the occupants of the vehicle have been identified as 27-year-old Austin P Graph-Liley and 38-year-old Kristin A Thompson both of Salt Lake City.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued a press release on Monday announcing status changes of their temples including an upcoming shift for the Vernal Utah Temple. The Vernal Utah Temple is among a list of 22 temples (20 in the United States, 1 in Canada, and 1 in Bolivia) that will move to Phase 2-B on April 26th.
An exciting community project is underway and community input is needed. Vernal City and Uintah County have teamed up on a downtown Vernal planning project. “The downtown Vernal plan will be developed over the next 5 months with many opportunities for ideas and input from residents and businesses,” shares Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion.

In a letter issued Monday, it was announced that library circulation has finally returned to normal.
This year’s Vernal UTAH’s Storytelling Festival was a success with many tuning in for the virtual experience. The tradition of having a storytelling festival in Vernal has growing roots. The festival began in 2004 and thanks to the volunteer efforts of many has continued, even during the uncertainty of the present world.
Two people are dead and Utah Highway Patrol is working to piece together what happened after a crash that took place Saturday in Duchesne County. Utah Highway Patrol released that “On March 27th, approximately 3:00PM, a 1997 Jeep Cherokee with two occupants was traveling east on Highway 40, just west of milepost 66.
Local police officers were rightfully honored and thanked last week for their service to the community. TriCounty Health Department held their first Flu Shootout event in 2015 with the goal of not only offering the flu shot to the public but to also offer valuable training to the health department staff.
