Winds certainly didn’t help with containment efforts of two fires in the Myton area reported on Monday. Utah Fire Info reported shortly after 4pm that the East Myton Fire was 200 acres in size and 10 percent contained and at that time was threatening structures including 3 Tribal and 1 private residence that were all evacuated. Crews were working toward containment in 40 mile per hour winds. Meanwhile, the North River Fire was reported at 50 to 60 acres and the report stated that both fires were human caused and under investigation. At 6:15pm, Utah Fire Info reported that the two fires had merged and 10 structures were threatened as well as oil and power infrastructure in the area. Finally, just after 8:30pm, Utah Fire Info reported that since they were now combined, the East Myton and North River Fires would be renamed as just the East Myton Complex. At that time the fire was 2200 acres, 10 percent contained and the evacuations were lifted.
