The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued a press release on Monday announcing status changes of their temples including an upcoming shift for the Vernal Utah Temple. The Vernal Utah Temple is among a list of 22 temples (20 in the United States, 1 in Canada, and 1 in Bolivia) that will move to Phase 2-B on April 26th. It has been a year since it and every other temple around the world belonging to the Church was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All remained fully closed for 6 weeks and then since May have slowly reopened for restricted use depending on the area. The Vernal Temple has been open on a limited basis to only individuals there for their own temple ordinances. This will continue and on April 26th, the shift to Phase 2-B will also reopen the temple baptistry for small groups.
