Vernal Regional Airport Update

Vernal Regional Airport manager Doug Brown gave a report to the board of the Uintah Transportation Special Service District on Thursday evening. Brown explained to the board the need to analyze the rates at the airport. Brown specifically wanted to discuss the lease rates for the hangers at the airport.

Team Uintah Recognizes W.J. Wamsley

Team Uintah is recognizing an individual who devoted a large part of his life to supporting the youth in Uintah School District and continues to do so. W.J. Wamsley taught 20 years at Todd Elementary and West Junior High School but even after retirement, Mr. Wamsley continues to volunteer his time in the schools.

Utes Take 1st at Tournament of Champions

The Uintah High School wrestling team takes competition seriously and it paid off over the weekend at the Tournament of Champions in Vernal. Out of 28 teams, the Utes took 1st place with a team combined total of 223 points. Juab came in 2nd and Delta 3rd. Other teams from the region competed as well.

Three Arrested Teens Referred to Juvenile Court for Threat of Terrorism

The three teens arrested after the Thursday incident at Duchesne High School have been referred to juvenile court for threat of terrorism. According to Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, a 15-year-old and two 14-year-olds are being held at Split Mountain Youth Detention Center in connection with the incident that resulted in a lockdown at Duchesne High School on Thursday.

Naples Police Lay K9 Jesse To Rest

The Naples Police Department laid a member of their team to rest this week. K9 Jesse joined the Naples Police Department team in 2008 and was partnered with Lieutenant Drew Cox. “In the last ten years,” shares Naples Police, “ K9 Jesse and her partner have been accredited to many drug arrests in the Basin.”
