Winter weather may be cold for hunters but it’s actually a hot time to hunt chukar partridge. The Division of Wildlife Resources explains that once snow starts to fall, chukars concentrate in smaller areas improving the odds for finding the birds. “In my opinion,” shares upland game coordinator Jason Robinson, “winter is the best time of the year to hunt chukars.” Robinson also says chukar are the among the best-tasting game bird in Utah, making any trek out into the cold worth it. Hunters are having good success with chukars so far this season. The chukar hunt runs until February 15th.
