Coming up this weekend, this year’s event will thankfully have the snow for the cross country skiing and sledding that are among the community’s favorite activities. Cross country skiing was actually the inspiration for the annual event.

Either way, an agreement is in place that keeps the program running on full benefits. “Obviously prenatal health is critical to overall health and this program will continue to provide supplemental nutrition to moms and kids locally,” shares TriCounty Health Director Jordan Mathis. The TriCounty Health WIC program served an average of 1,300 local individuals each month in 2017. That amounted to the program giving approximately $428,000 dollars in supplemental food benefits to program enrollees.

A Uintah County woman has been charged with felony child abuse of an infant under 1 year of age. The charge of child abuse was filed on January 11th against 21-year-old Gracelynn Rae Yazzie citing a January 5th incident. The 2nd degree felony child abuse charge is stated to have inflicted serious physical injury intentionally. According to the Probable Cause Statement, Yazzie was the adult caregiver to a child under the age of 1 when “the child was seriously burned on his legs and feet.
Representative Rob Bishop, joined by the entire Utah House delegation and supported also by the Senate, introduced HR 4825: the Marijuana Effective Drug Study Act this week. Known as the MEDS Act, the effort is aimed at creating a reasoned and responsible environment where the best minds are able to analyze and examine marijuana for medicinal use.
