The Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce gave their annual report during the Uintah County Commission meeting on Monday. The Chamber estimates their total value to the community is over $504,000 dollars.
The environmental process continues on the project proposed to extend Seep Ridge Road south to I-70 in Grand County. The NEPA process began in the fall to study the potential consequences of the proposed project to ensure that any decisions made are environmentally sound.
Nighttime caving proved to be a dangerous pursuit for a group of adventurers who went climbing inside the Little Brushcreek cave system in north Uintah County on Sunday evening. A fatal two vehicle accident in Vernal at about 850 West Highway 40 shut down both directions of traffic as emergency personnel handled the scene. The crash took place Monday evening. Law enforcement has confirmed there is at least one fatality.
A Uintah County woman is facing drug and distribution charges after an incident in which police responded to a call to the Vernal McDonalds parking lot. 51-year-old Gertrude Marie Holland has been charged with one count of driving with a controlled substance in the body, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to deliver.

A jury trial and bail hearing have been scheduled in Salt Lake County 3rd District Court for the three men charged with raping a Uintah County girl in 2016.
