KNEU 1250Utah State University has announced adjustments to their fall semester schedule on their campuses including USU-Uintah Basin, to decrease risk of COVID-19 spread. The day allotted for “fall break” has been cancelled and the instruction beginning the week of Thanksgiving break will switch to ‘remote only’ for all students including students in the Uintah Basin.
The Utah Department of Workforce Services has released updated May unemployment numbers for the state and counties. Utah unemployment is at 8.5 percent, down from 10.4 percent in April. Daggett County is at 5 percent unemployment, down from 9 percent in April. Duchesne County is at 11.9 percent unemployment, down from 12.7 percent in April.
Every year, ‘Fishing With The Fox’ adds summer excitement by adding prizes as incentive for catching tagged fish in Uintah Basin water bodies and this year is no exception. The contest, hosted by the Division of Wildlife Resources and Evans Family Media’s 98.5 The Fox, is now in its 10th year.
The time is approaching for changes to take effect for non-resident boaters who come to Utah. DWR Conservation Outreach Manager Tonya Kieffer-Selby shares that changes will take effect July 1st including a $20 annual fee for any boat that is not registered in Utah and is brought over state lines to launch.
Roosevelt City Council met on Tuesday, June 16th, and passed their 2021 fiscal year budget. According to a press release from Roosevelt City, a budget of $6.7 million dollars was passed with a 10 percent reduction of expenses citywide.

The Utah Department of Workforce Services released the state’s latest employment numbers on Friday. Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment for May 2020 showed a reduction of 75,400 jobs compared to May 2019.

Vernal City Council officially approved the Fiscal Year 2021 budget during the Wednesday City Council meeting. The Fiscal Year 2021 budget starts July 1st and has an annual general fund of $9,879,975 dollars, a cut of nearly $700,000 dollars from the Fiscal Year 2020 budget. Many hours went into creating the budget.
