Uintah School District announced over the weekend that two cases of COVID-19 have been reported at Discovery Elementary School. The first positive case was announced on Friday stating that the District was working closely with the TriCounty Health Department to ensure that anyone who had direct, prolonged contact with the individual was notified.

High Uinta Wilderness Fire Update.
There has been many fires in the High Uinta wilderness area with continued activity over the weekend. The Center Creek Trail fire has increased by 35 acres to 80 acres moving in a North and East movement. This has led to a closure order for the Yellowstone Trail from the junction with the Swift Creek Trail to the Trail 058 junction.

Thousands enjoyed the three days of ballooning fun that made up Dinah ”SOAR” Days in Vernal over the weekend. People all over the valley watched the balloons in the morning from their yards or other vantage points and some even received the surprise of a balloon landing in fields next to their homes.

The East Fork Fire in Duchesne County hasn’t changed much, according to Ashley National Forest. The fire is at 13 percent contained and 2752 acres thanks in part to the relatively higher humidity and some showers in the fire area.
Jordan Mathis Confirms Area’s Covid Trending Down
Jordan Mathis spoke at the Vernal Chamber luncheon on Tuesday concerning the downward trend of active cases of COVID-19. Tri-County Health area which consists of Uintah, Daggett and Duchesne counties is seeing a decline in cases and the State of Utah over all has plateaued.
