Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office has closed the missing person case for Rangely resident Peter Ruffner after announcing his cause of death on Tuesday. According to the Sheriff’s Office, forensic results showed that the cause of death was drowning with contributors to death being methamphetamine and alcohol intoxication.
Just ask Utah skiers if it’s been a dry year so far and their frustration will likely show through. While Utah’s snowpack is at its lowest in decades for the time of year, it is central and southern Utah counties that are most concerned. Thursday’s SNOTEL report shows that for the northeastern Uintahs, snow levels are at about 83 percent of normal for the time of year while the Duchesne River Basin is at about 61 percent of normal
The holiday travel season stretches from December 23rd through January 1st and AAA reports this as the highest year-end-travel volume on record. 107.3 million Americans traveled away from home during the holiday season making for the ninth consecutive year of rising year-end holiday travel.
Naples City is ringing in 2018 in style and are inviting the entire Basin community to join them. Mayor Dean Baker had been contacted by a group in July about teaming up for a fireworks show and as a result the city hosted fireworks on the 24th of July.
