BLM Headquarters May Move Out West

Could it be Denver, Salt Lake City, somewhere in between, or somewhere else altogether? The latest talk from the Department of the Interior is that there is serious consideration to move the headquarters for the BLM out west with Salt Lake City and Denver listed as viable contenders. The BLM manages nearly 250 million acres of public land and most of that is in the West so the proposal to move headquarters seems to be a logical one. The Denver Post reports that the BLM is still in the process of conducting assessments regarding moving offices to the west and more information is likely in the first quarter of 2018. Grand Junction is also discussed as a possible contender as it sits only 40 miles from the Utah border and could closely serve a large area of public lands. At this point, any thoughts on location are speculation but the possible move of headquarters is not.
