KNEU 1250An altercation between two men resulted in death on Friday afternoon in Uintah County. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, deputies are investigating the altercation that took place at a residence near Pelican Lake just after 1:00pm.

A family member of the former Utah couple found Guilty of poaching is also facing poaching charges. William and Jennifer Thompson will both pay restitution and serve time in Uintah County Jail, in 2-day increments, after being sentenced in March on multiple instances of poaching elk and deer.

A former Uintah County couple found guilty of multiple instances of poaching elk and deer will serve jail time for their crimes. Among other charges, William August Thompson faced 13 felony charges of Wanton Destruction of Protected Wildlife which he pleaded Not Guilty to in October. In January, 7 of those charges were Dismissed with Prejudice in 8th District Court and 6 charges were changed to Guilty as part of a plea agreement.
The billowing smoke from a prescribed burn in Jensen had some community members concerned on Wednesday. The burn is being conducted by the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands in conjunction with the Division of Wildlife Resources. “It’s a habitat restoration project broken into project parcels on Stewart Lake waterfowl management area,” shares DWR Outreach Manager Tonya Kieffer.
