KNEU 1250A pair of California men stranded on a mountain during a rainstorm were rescued by Sweetwater County Search and Rescue on Friday. The men were on the south slope of Pine Mountain when they became stranded and had to hike to the Summit of Pine Mountain, the highest point in Sweetwater County, to get a cell phone signal to call for help.

The Division of Wildlife Resources needs your help! Repair and maintenance work is scheduled to take place on the Steinaker Reservoir dam next fall and between now and then officials are hoping to salvage as many fish from the lake as possible. “The reservoir will soon be drained for dam repairs and we need anglers, from boats and the shore, to catch bluegill for us,” shares the DWR.

Two people are in the hospital after a serious two vehicle crash in Roosevelt on Saturday evening. According to Utah Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Cameron Martinez of Roosevelt was driving a pickup westbound on Highway 40 near 1700 West in Roosevelt at about 5:19pm on Saturday.
Two sisters are investing in the future of nursing education in the Uintah Basin. During this year’s commencement ceremonies, it was announced that Ann and Inella Kunz have donated $25,000 dollars to the USU Foundation, establishing the Ann and Inella Kunz Scholarship Endowment.

Today is day one of the three day Dinah “SOAR” Days and Hot Air Balloon Festival, an event that is expected to become an annual local celebration. The idea originated from the Hospitality Committee wanting to have some kind of day to represent the community. A collaborative effort got under way and this weekend was picked because of the Dino Half marathon already drawing people from outside the area.
