Dinah “SOAR” Days to Pepper Weekend with Colorful Skies

If you’ve been outside today in the Vernal area it’s likely your eye has been drawn to the sky. Today is day one of the three day Dinah “SOAR” Days and Hot Air Balloon Festival, an event that is expected to become an annual local celebration. The idea originated from the Hospitality Committee wanting to have some kind of day to represent the community. A collaborative effort got under way and this weekend was picked because of the Dino Half marathon already drawing people from outside the area.

UDOT Bridgeland/Myton Construction Project Well Underway

The season of road construction is here and the Uintah Basin will have its share of orange cones and barrels. Among the projects underway in Region 3 is the passing lanes being installed between Bridgeland and Myton. The project is aimed at improving safety and mobility by constructing a passing lane on Highway 40 in both the eastbound and westbound directions.

Vernal’s Downtown Cleanup a Success

Many parties have done their part to welcome guests to the Vernal area for the Dinah “SOAR” days this weekend. On Friday, a crowd gathered for the Downtown Cleanup that started at Cobble Rock Park. Volunteers, Chamber members, and business owners gathered to cleanup downtown including trash removal, window washing, and painting bike racks.

DWR: Uintah Basin Couple Convicted of Poaching

The Division of Wildlife Resources is telling the story of a Uintah Basin couple convicted of poaching, sending a clear message that poaching is taken seriously in the state of Utah. A DWR officer in Roosevelt received a tip on the poacher hotline back in 2016 that Kenneth Swenson, Jr. was poaching cow elk and pheasants in Duchesne County.

Ashley Regional Women’s Center Welcomes Public During Open House

Ashley Regional Medical Center welcomed the public to the new Women’s Center for an open house on Wednesday. Ashley Regional CEO Ben Cluff presented about the new facility during Tuesday’s Vernal Chamber luncheon. Cluff emphasized that this opening is with great appreciation to LifePoint Health for their willingness to invest in this community even during downturn in the economy.

Tribe Endorses Jack Rubin in Senate District 26 Race; Gorum Responds to News Release

The Ute Tribe has officially endorsed Park City’s Jack Rubin in the Utah State Senate District 26 race. A news release dated May 1st states that Rubin met with the Business Committee and received their unanimous vote. The Tribe’s release goes into detail about their discussion and Rubin’s belief that “some people in the Basin” refer to the Tribe as “the Indian problem.”
