ACLU Suing Daggett County Jailers and State Over Jail Abuse

The American Civil Liberties Union of Utah announced this week that they have filed a lawsuit on behalf of two former Daggett County Jail inmates that were subject to abuse while incarcerated. The Plaintiffs are listed as Dustin Porter and Steven Drollette who are seeking, quote, “damages and injunctive relief for a pattern of severe cruelty against them while they were incarcerated at the Daggett County Jail.”

Gold Cross Ambulance Celebrates 50 Years

A company that serves and saves lives in this community has plenty to celebrate. Gold Cross Ambulance was founded in 1968 by Gene and Julia Moffitt who responded to calls in the Salt Lake area with two Cadillac ambulances equipped with first-aid kits, resuscitation devices and stretchers.

Multiple Agencies Respond to “East Whiterocks” Fire

Multiple agencies responded to the “East Whiterocks” fire on Wednesday afternoon. According to the BIA Wildland Fire-Uintah & Ouray Agency, the wildland fire started northeast of Whiterocks and units from LaPoint-Tridell and Neola Fire Departments as well as Bureau of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Land Management, and U.S. Forest Service all responded to the fire.

California Men Rescued by Sweetwater County Search and Rescue

A pair of California men stranded on a mountain during a rainstorm were rescued by Sweetwater County Search and Rescue on Friday. The men were on the south slope of Pine Mountain when they became stranded and had to hike to the Summit of Pine Mountain, the highest point in Sweetwater County, to get a cell phone signal to call for help.
