Tomorrow’s Sandhill Crane Viewing Day Also A Lesson on Wildlife Management

A favorite annual DWR bird watching event is finally here and the DWR says it is also an opportunity to learn about the importance of wildlife management. The sandhill crane viewing event is being held tomorrow, September 28th. From 7 to 9am spotting scopes will be set up at the Jensen Nature Park and at 5pm there will be an auto tour leave from the Uintah County Library to the crane’s roosting grounds at Pelican Lake and the Ouray National Wildlife Refuge.

Bank Robbed in Rifle, Colorado; Suspect At Large

Upon last report, a bank robber is still at large after robbing a bank in Rifle, Colorado. According to the Rifle Police Department, the robbery took place on Tuesday at approximately 12:26pm at the Bank of Colorado located at 1200 Railroad Avenue in Rifle. The suspect was last seen “walking casually south towards the dispensary via the alley wearing dark colored clothing and a dark ball cap.”

Yellowstone Canyon Bridge Replacement Update

The Yellowstone Canyon Bridge replacement project has been slightly delayed and Ashley National Forest announced Thursday that the work will now take place from September 25th to October 9th. Yellowstone Canyon Road and the ATV trail will be closed at the Bridge Campground on the southwest side of the bridge and on the main road north of the existing bridge.

A domestic dispute ended in a stabbing on Monday in Vernal. According to a press release from the Vernal City Police Department, law enforcement was dispatched to a Vernal residence on Monday, September 23rd around 4:00pm regarding a physical altercation.

Rotary Club Thrilling Local 3rd Graders With Dictionary Deliveries

The Rotary Club is up to their annual tradition of putting smiles on the faces of every local third grader while fulfilling their mission of promoting literacy. For the last two weeks, the Rotarians have visited 3rd grade classrooms to hand delivery special dictionaries, one for each student to personally keep. “At this age, the kids are starting to understand reading and have a spark of wanting to know new things,” shares participating Rotarian Cindy Spurlock.
