Public Meetings Scheduled for Ashley National Forest Plan

Ashley National Forest is seeking public input as they work on a Draft Assessment. The document will be used to identify current conditions and public use trends of the forest and input received from the meetings will be used in the next stage of the Forest Plan Revision process as practices are updated.

Dinah and her minions are taking over the streets of Naples and Vernal. Last year was the first year the rodeo committee sponsored a Dinah decorating contest between local businesses. A wooden Dinah silhouette was provided free of charge and once decorated, was displayed in the front of participating businesses through June and into the rodeo.

Vernal City Budget Approval

Vernal City continues to tighten its belt. The Vernal City Council held a special meeting on Wednesday, June 28th, to address the budget and attorney contracts before the Fiscal Year starts over on July 1st. 

State Fire Restriction Order In Place

A state fire restriction order is now officially in place as of Thursday and citizens are encouraged to become educated on what all that means. Under Utah State law the following acts are prohibited in all unincorporated private and state lands within Duchesne and Uintah Counties:

Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo Ready for Big Crowds

Known as one of the biggest events in the Vernal area every year, the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo is prepping to welcome thousands to the event with a long history. The rodeo can be traced back to 1932 when it was known as the Blue Mountain Rodeo. The event drew 50 riders and provided entertainment to the community.

Traffic is slowing down as construction progresses on Highway 40 between Myton and Roosevelt. UDOT announced Tuesday that Pole Line Road will be closed at the intersection of Highway 40 all day on Thursday for utility work. 

Duchesne and Uintah Counties Explore Water Resources Master Plan

Entities in Duchesne and Uintah Counties are collaborating on a water resource master plan in order to study water resources and needs into the future. The Uintah County Commission passed a motion during their Monday meeting that they support the study as the western portion of Uintah County needs to be included in the study area. 

EPA Moves to Rescind 2015 “Waters of the U.S.”

The Environmental Protection Agency and Army Corps of Engineers announced Tuesday their proposal to rescind Obama’s 2015 “Waters of the U.S.” rule. According to the EPA announcement, the proposal would reinstate the regulatory text that existed prior to 2015 and once finalized the rule would provide certainty in the interim while they wait for a re-evaluation and second rulemaking of the definition.
