UTE SOFTBALL TEAM LOSES FIRST GAME ON QUESTIONABLE GAME ENDING CALL

After a bye last weekend, the Uintah girls softball team faced the Hurricane Tigers in game one Thursday. The Utes held the lead at the mid-point of the game, but the Tigers chipped away and eventually took a two point lead going into the seventh inning.
The Utes held the Tigers scoreless in the top, then managed to get runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the seventh. A fly to deep center was caught and the runners took off. The runner at third scored, but the umpire said one of the runners left their base early, not tagging up and was called out ending the game, with the Utes losing 6-5.
The Utes will have to win both games Friday to continue in the 4A state tournament.
