The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Wednesday that they have awarded $420 million dollars in infrastructure projects around the country, one of which is here in the Uintah Basin. The Duchesne Watershed Infrastructure project will support construction efforts to address agricultural water management concerns. This includes a focus on canal stabilizations and water conservation, including irrigation efficiencies through reduced seepage and evaporation losses. The Duchesne County Water Conservancy District was awarded $28,388,813 dollars for the project. “Our watershed programs help communities rebuild after natural disasters and prepare for future events,” shares USDA State Conservationist Emily Fife. “These projects exemplify why this historic investment in our watersheds was needed and the adeptness of our agency to act swiftly.”
