Dinosaur National Monument is taking part in the ‘Battle of the Bark’ and recently posted their entry to the battle. National Park Service describes the ‘Battle of the Bark’ as follows: “From evergreen, to deciduous, to solidified in rock, trees are a big part of the national park experience. Some parks are dedicated to giant trees like sequoias and redwoods, and others let historic monuments or canyons take the spotlight. Either way, our woody friends offer shade, food, beauty, and a look into the past, but what makes one tree better than the other—we’ll let you decide who to ‘root’ for!”  Dinosaur National Monument’s entry is unique as it is actually a fossilized tree, the Agathoxylon. Some of these trees were 60 to 80 feet in height in life, making many of the local dinosaurs look small in comparison. To learn more about the different entries for ‘Battle of the Bark’, visit the National Park Service website.
