The 2018 tourism season has wrapped up and Uintah County officials are declaring it a success. A warm winter and mix of events resulted in higher than expected visitation last spring, with an increase of over 20 percent from the year before, shares Uintah County Travel and Tourism Director Lesha Coltharp. Events included the 1st annual Dinah “Soar” Days, Dino Half Marathon, Numb Fest, as well as other conferences and tourists choosing Uintah County to celebrate Memorial Day weekend. Summer peak tourism season saw an increase in visitation to the Utah Field House with many visitors seeking information there at the Vernal Information Center and staying to see the museum. Over 20,000 people visited the museum from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Dinosaur National Monument saw a small decrease in visitor count from 2017 mostly due to the lower water levels decreasing the number of rafters in the area. Over 170,000 people still visited the Monument during the peak summer months and came from all over the world. Red Fleet State Park also saw record numbers over the summer.
