KNEU 1250The school year might seem light-years away but TriCounty Health is encouraging the community to start making plans to get their kids back to school immunizations. “Utah State law requires vaccinations for children entering into kindergarten and seventh grade,” shares TriCounty Health.
The Division of Wildlife Resources has been busy stocking waters throughout the Uintah Basin with all kinds of fish but neighboring Strawberry Reservoir is the focus this week. DWR biologists started stocking the reservoir on Monday, taking fish out onto the reservoir in barges and releasing them throughout the lake.

The fun continues in Roosevelt this week for the ‘Fun on 40’ celebration. All are invited to a special event on Thursday, June 20th, to visit Roosevelt City’s Main Street for a celebration of local business and small-town spirit from 1 to 4pm. Evans Family Media will be broadcasting live on the radio and many Roosevelt Main Street businesses will be involved, offering prizes, sales, and incentives.
A heavy police presence can be expected at select schools in Uintah School District this week. Uintah School District announced on Tuesday that K-9 officers from Utah and Nevada will be conducting training exercises at Vernal Middle School and Uintah Middle School. “Training will take place Wednesday, June 19th, at Vernal Middle School.
The Uinta Basin Railway project has officially been posted in the Federal Register, meaning the National Environmental Policy (NEPA) has formally started on the project. Utah’s Permanent Community Impact Fund Board met on June 13th and approved the final $21.4 million dollars needed for the project’s EIS process. The Federal Register notice listed on Wednesday, June 19th.
Uintah County Emergency Management shared Tuesday afternoon an updated flood warning for the Duchesne River near Randlett in Uintah County. At noon on Tuesday the river stage was 13.2 feet. Flood stage is generally considered to be at 13.3 feet. Minor flooding is forecast and property owners should prepare in whatever ways appropriate. The impact at 13.3 feet will flood fields and lowland along the river southeast of Randlett with damage possible to some private bridges and irrigation works.
Depending on the day and the time, Highway 40 can have long lines of vehicles making their way about and through the towns along the way. This can slow things down at times and require an added measure of patience as vehicles large and small share the road.

An investigation is ongoing after a man was found deceased in a street on Sunday night in Craig. According to the Craig Police Department, at 1:20am, officers responded to Lecuyer Drive and located the man. Life saving measures were immediately undertaken but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the press release from the Craig Police Department, an investigator from the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is assisting with the investigation as well as the Moffat County Coroner.
Maybe you’ve noticed them practicing at the park or you brought your kids over and asked to take a closer look at their unique armor and weapons. Whatever the case, there is a lot more to the locals engaged with Middle Ages re-enactment and armored combat than you might realize. First of all, these locals are members of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), an international history society that recreates the arts and skills of pre-17th century life. Local participant Chad Gault has been an enthusiastic participant since 2005 and owns several personally hand-made suits based on 15th century Japanese armor.
