TriCounty Health Department has an upcoming public meeting for the Draft Cosmetology Rule. The state legislature asked the state health board to develop rules to ensure public health for services including barber shops, hair salons, estheticians, electrologists, nail salons, and beauty schools.
Fireworks will light the skies tonight above all 29 counties in Utah as part of the 125th anniversary of statehood. The fireworks shows will happen statewide at approximately 7:30 p.m. on January 4th, following a 30-minute TV special featuring performances from many of the state’s most notable musicians, dancers, and others.

The TriCounty Health District is reporting the same COVID-19 Transmission Index Levels. Uintah County and Duchesne County remain at the High Transmission Level and Daggett County is in the Low Transmission Level. According to TriCounty Health’s press release on Thursday, this means Uintah County had been in high transmission for 62 days, Duchesne County for 69 days and Daggett County in the low transmission level for 78 days.
Travel publication MatadorNetwork.com has some high praise for the fun to be had in Dinosaurland naming Vernal #15 on the list of ‘25 coolest towns in America to visit in 2021.’ Vernal is the only town in Utah to make the list and is praised as a “basecamp for climbers, river rats, mountain bikers, and backcountry hounds seeking easy access to the goods they’ve spent their lives pursuing.”
Representative Blake Moore was sworn into office on Sunday as the new representative for Utah’s 1st Congressional District, replacing Rob Bishop who did not run for reelection. Northeastern Utah is included in Utah’s 1st Congressional District.
Today is the final day on the job for a well known member of the community. After 28 and a half years, Uintah Recreation District Director Robin O’Driscoll is ready for retirement. “I have loved my job, absolutely loved it” shares O’Driscoll. “It’s just time to retire and spend some time with my family.”
In what has become a fun annual tradition, the Naples City New Year’s Eve Fireworks show is on for tonight! Now in its 4th year, Naples City is gaining a reputation as a fun spot to kick off welcoming in the new year. It's also become tradition to find yourself in Naples on the Pioneer Day holiday every 24th of July.
Roosevelt City has many great traditions that help the community to gather together and enjoy some events. One yearly tradition is held throughout the month of January. Sponsored by the Roosevelt Arts, Park and Recreation Committee, Winterfest is a selection of activities usually held on Saturdays.
