KNEU 1250A small fire in a remote area of Dinosaur National Monument took a turn for the worse over the weekend. According to the announcement, a fire started when a single tree was struck by lightning on the south side of Whirlpool Canyon on June 18th.
A man plead guilty and was sentenced for murder in Moffat County Court Thursday, June 23rd. The case began in November 2020 when around 5:30pm on November 30th the Moffat County Sheriff’s office was notified that a man’s body had been found in a remote area of northwest Moffat County.
While heat-related deaths and illnesses are preventable, the fact is more than 600 people in the United States are killed by extreme heat every year. The new access to the Moonshine Arch Trail is now open. According to the UDOT announcement, the new access has been moved further north to a straight section of Highway 191. This, along with the new turn lane, has increased safety for motorists.
