Man Enters Guilty Plea to Murder in Moffat County

A man plead guilty and was sentenced for murder in Moffat County Court Thursday, June 23rd. The case began in November 2020 when around 5:30pm on November 30th the Moffat County Sheriff’s office was notified that a man’s body had been found in a remote area of northwest Moffat County. The deceased was identified as 26-year-old Ian Tillack and foul play was suspected at the scene. This led the investigators to arrest 25-year-old Griffin James Loughlin on December 2nd, 2020 in Salt Lake City. According to the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Loughlin shot Tillack in the back. Loughlin received 35 years in prison after pleading Guilty to murder in the second degree, a class two felony. He has been in Moffat County jail for 569 days since his arrest and will now be placed with Colorado Department of Corrections to serve the remainder of his sentence. The investigation was led by Moffat County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Chip McIntyre, and the prosecution team was led by Assistant District Attorney Matthew Tjosvold.
