The driver of the semi involved in a crash that killed a Duchesne County man and paralyzed a Salt Lake County woman last spring is now facing a charge of automobile homicide. On December 1st, 37-year-old Nathaniel Bone was charged with 2nd degree felony Automobile Homicide, Negligence Use of a Handheld Wireless Device and Misdemeanor Use of a Handheld Device While Driving.

The Uintah County Teen Outreach Program has teamed up with TriCounty Health Department to help babies and raise awareness for congenital heart defects. The Teen Outreach Program is in both Uintah and Duchesne County and the youth acquire 20 hours of community service learning.
Many generous hearts came together to help local charities and families in need during the Trees For Charity event held at the Uintah Conference Center. The auction gala, held on November 27th, was record breaking even before the bidding started up with 450 tickets sold for the dinner, a record high.
UBOC kicked off their 5th season last weekend with a stellar night of Christmas music and entertainment. As Artistic Director and Conductor, Dr. James Bankhead was deeply involved in the concert’s planning and execution, as was his wife Lyn Bankhead who serves as the Master Conductor for the chorus.
Flames engulfed a semi on Wednesday afternoonon Highway 40 in the Fort Duchesne area. According to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Brett Gehring, a double tanker semi was traveling eastbound at Mile Marker 121 near the light at Fort Duchesne a little after 3:30pm when an axle came off and the back trailer overturned on the highway.
Holiday spirit is filling the shelves at local food pantries this season. Just this week, Roosevelt Junior High and Union High School students delivered a large donation to the Duchesne County Food Pantry.
Utah Highway Patrol has now reported that the semi tanker that caught fire on Highway 40 on Wednesday afternoon was hauling production water, not condensate as previously believed. It was also determined that the accident was caused by equipment failure.
USU-Uintah Basin celebrated 50 years of higher education in the Basin at their Heritage Gala held Tuesday night at the Uintah Conference Center. The event recognized the founders, benefactors and community partners that have played a role in that accomplishment.
An equipment operator remains hospitalized after sustaining a serious injury while working at the Craig Station last Thursday. According to a statement from Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, the accident took place in the early afternoon when a heavy equipment operator’s leg was injured while working around a train.
