While the original goal was to finish the project in 2017, Burdick Materials explained that they would work into November paving and striping State Street on the south end but the completion of the project would be delayed in order to guarantee the high quality of work they strive for.

The family and friends of a man missing since September are waiting to hear if a body discovered in the White River on November 30th is their missing loved one. According to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, 66-year-old Peter Christian Ruffner had not been seen since Friday, September 29th, and help from the Colorado Bureau of Investigations was requested.
A Salt Lake man has been charged with felony mail theft in Duchesne County. According to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, 51-year-old Russell Curtis Young is facing the second degree felony for allegedly stealing two voided checks from a Duchesne County man’s mailbox in August.

An investigation is underway after a body was discovered on Wednesday about 4 miles west of Rangely, Colorado. According to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Mazzola was on patrol and visited the Texas Beach area along the White River as part of the continued effort to search for Peter Ruffner who has been missing since early September.

The majority of Utah employers, including those in rural eastern Utah, are expected to see a reduction in their unemployment insurance tax rates for the 2018 calendar year. The Utah Unemployment Insurance Division announced on Wednesday that in 2018, more than 75 percent of Utah’s established employers will qualify for the minimum contribution rate of approximately $34 dollars per employee per year.
An outbreak of Hepatitis A that is linked to a national outbreak has been reported in the state of Utah. Hepatitis A is a contagious liver disease that results from infection of the Hep A virus. The Utah Department of Health reports that between May 1st and November 27th, 87 outbreak-associated cases of Hepatitis A have been identified.
November marks 11 years since Uintah County Sheriff’s Detective Kevin Orr lost his life while on duty during a search and rescue mission. Detective Orr was organizing a search and rescue effort from the sky on November 22nd, 2006, when the helicopter he was traveling in crashed into the Green River and his life was lost. Last year during a special ceremony remembering his passing, Uintah County Sheriff Vance Norton retired Detective Orr’s call number Sierra 7 and his badge number 223. “Kevin’s name will remain on [the Sheriff’s Office] roster so we never forget him for the sacrifice he made to help others and to always show respect to the Orr family,” shared Sheriff Norton during that ceremony in 2016. Orr passed away when he was just 34 years old. He is remembered as a man devoted to his wife and four young children.
