The Council approved $235,000 dollars in grant funding to go toward planning runway renovations at the Roosevelt Municipal Airport, shares the Roosevelt Bulletin. The total project cost is approximately $3.5 million dollars.

Severe Hail and Thunderstorms Travel Across Northeastern Utah; Flooding Results

Severe thunderstorms pelted northeastern Utah with hail and rain throughout Wednesday afternoon and evening followed by flooding in some areas. According to National Weather Service meteorologist Jim Pringle, winds in the Vernal area were recorded at 59 miles per hour and early reports of hail were as large as 1 inch in diameter though there could have been larger hail as well.

The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is trying to help you keep your hard earned money in your own bank account by warning citizens of the latest telephone scam hitting the area hard. Con artists are leaving voicemails asking the recipient to call them back. If the person calls them back they answer the phone very professionally pretending to be the IRS and demanding payment.
