KNEU 1250Uintah Recreation District has some good news for patrons. With the Governor’s new order, beginning today patrons do not have to wear face masks while in the recreation center though everyone must maintain a 10 foot distance. All are asked to check capacity numbers before entering rooms.
For those planning to continue the Friday tradition of Cruisin’ During COVID on Vernal’s Main Street, the Vernal Police Department has a clear message. Safety is still required and illegal activities are still illegal. “We love seeing everyone having a good time and the smiles that the COVID Cruising down Main Street brings,” shares Vernal PD.
Before the world came to a stand still, Uintah High School Seniors were looking forward to graduating in the traditional way on Friday, May 22nd. While that Commencement Ceremony cannot happen as planned on that day, Uintah High School has found a creative way to hold an event at that time that will celebrate the Seniors in a unique way.
UBTech has announced their Educator of the Year. UBTech Medical Assistant instructor Leigh Lloyd “was chosen because of her hard work and efforts to provide students with quality education,” shares UBTech President Aaron Weight. The UBTech Medical Assistant program is offered to secondary and post-secondary students and Lloyd is known for her caring attitude.
Utah’s spring turkey hunts are about to get underway for all those looking for a great way to social distance while enjoying the great outdoors. Utah’s youth turkey hunt runs May 1st through the 3rd and the spring general-season turkey hunt runs May 4th through the 31st.

TriCounty Health Officer Jordan Mathis visited the Eagle Country 105.5 FM studio on Tuesday to deliver the weekly Give’m Health update on COVID-19. Mathis shared that the TriCounty Health District is still holding in a good pattern and it is hoped that it will continue to do so. Because things are trending in a good direction it is anticipated the Governor will lesson some restrictions starting May 1st.
The decision to cancel the 2020 Uintah County Fair has resulted in the Uintah County Commission receiving many messages, calls and comments on social media, letting the county know that many in the public are not excited about this decision. It has been suggested that the county postpone the Fair for a later date.
It's been over a month now since hospitals and doctors elected to postpone certain procedures and surgeries but it looks like that time is winding down. Uintah Basin Healthcare announced on Monday that all services are now fully operational at The Clinic though telehealth visits still remain available. Urgent Care is now fully operational in both Roosevelt and Vernal and sleep studies have resumed at the UBH Sleep Center.
Ashley Regional Medical Center announced on Tuesday that it will be resuming elective and non-urgent surgeries and procedures on a limited basis. “Resuming these important services is an essential component of meeting our community’s health needs and advancing our mission of Making Communities Healthier,” shares Greg Gardiner, Chief Clinical Officer of Ashley Regional.
Water line and roadwork continue this week on the UDOT Highway 40 construction project in Gusher. The UDOT update this week shares that the speed limit has been reduced to 50 mph through the work zone during construction. “Please be respectful and slow down around crews as they work next to traffic,” shares UDOT.
